Author Joy Jordan-Lake to Speak

Joy Jordan-Lake will speak at Immanuel Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 10 at 6pm in the chapel. The national best-selling author will kick off IBC’s All-Ages Summer Reading Event. Joy writes celebrated historical and dual-timeline novels, as well as historical mysteries and children’s picture books.

In her writing, Joy is drawn to little-known historical facts and social issues. Her recent dual-timeline books include A Tangled Mercy, set in Charleston during 1822 and 2015 and Echoes of Us, set on St. Simons Island during WWII and present time. Other novels are set in Maine, Appalachia and the Biltmore Estate.

In addition to fiction, Joy has authored several anthologies and collections. Joy also authored a history of Belmont University for it’s 125th anniversary: From Here to Anywhere. Joy grew up in the mountains of east Tennessee near Chattanooga. She has a theology degree as well as a masters and a Ph.D in English Literature and has taught classes at several universities. She and her husband live near Nashville and have three children, one grandchild and a dog.
