Issues of Language in Worship

On Wednesday nights June 7 and 14 at 6pm in the Chapel, IBC Music Minister Tim Sharp will lead two sessions that reflect on the kinds of language we use to describe God and people in our worship, particularly as it relates to hymnody. June 7th will discuss, “God: My Pronouns Are . . . “ and June 14th will explore “What Language Shall We Borrow?” Rev. Dr. Sharp will illuminate the words of the hymns and songs we sing with particular attention to archaic language, royalty language, outdated and irrelevant metaphors, gender-specific language, inclusive language, and ever new and emerging challenges.
